This includes households and businesses reducing their reliance on Eskom\u2019s electricity supply.<\/p>\n<p>This is feedback from energy analyst Chris Yelland, who told\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/iono.fm\/e\/1423218\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/iono.fm\/e\/1423218\">Classic Business<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0that, in the long term, if the country continues to reform the electricity industry, load-shedding will become a thing of the past.<\/p>\n<p>While unplanned breakdowns \u2014 unplanned capacity loss factor (UCLF) \u2014 are down this year compared to the same period last year, this is offset by increased planned maintenance outages \u2014 planned capacity loss factor (PCLF).<\/p>\n<p>Yelland explained that this means that the availability of the Eskom fleet \u2014 its energy availability factor (EAF) \u2014 this year is similar to that of the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the similar EAF, South Africa is experiencing less load-shedding this year than last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South Africa can end load-shedding if it does the right things for a long time.
