Window Cleaning Services

Window Cleaning Services

Brilliant Office Cleaning delivers window cleaning services from the Melbourne CBD to regions throughout Victoria. Window cleaning refers to washing internal and/or external windows using appropriate cleaning detergents and water. For high-rise windows, additional equipment may be required. Window cleaning plays an important role in keeping any building clean and presentable in order to provide a good first-impression for customers and visitors.

Whether you have a single-story building, double-story building or multiple levels, we have the equipment and the expertise to cater for your requirements.

Window cleaning techniques

Brilliant Office Cleaning employs a range of window cleaning techniques, which we employ based on the nature of the window cleaning requirement. Spot cleaning of windows is not regarded as a window cleaning technique.

Squeegee

This is a very basic technique that uses a squeegee and a water/chemical mixture. It is suitable only for a small number of windows that can be reached by the cleaner. In other words, this cleaning method is not suitable for high windows. While this is a basic technique, it is effective and does not leave any streaks in the hands of an experienced window cleaner.

Water-Fed Pole System

This is the most frequent window cleaning method used by Brilliant Office Cleaning. It consists of a water-fed pole, which releases water onto windows. Generally, this method is suitable for windows as high as four stories, and can be used to clean external windows without any issues. It can also be used for high internal windows, however, care is needed to ensure that there is no damage to objects that may be affected by water.

This method does not require chemicals or detergents. Distilled water is used under pressure, resulting in sparkling, clean widows without any streaks. This is considered to be an advanced technique that cleans windows very effectively.

High Pressure Washing

We use high pressure washing to clean windows that cannot be reached using the water-fed pole method. In other words, windows that are out of reach due to obstacles on the ground. Generally, this method can be used to wash difficult-to-reach windows within a height of two stories.

The window cleaning techniques discussed above are the most frequently used by Brilliant Office Cleaning. However, we also use other techniques, such as rope access window cleaning, scaffold cleaning, etc.

Depending on the height of the windows, Brilliant Office Cleaning uses scissor lifts with all of the above cleaning methods. We often encounter situations where choosing the most appropriate method will depend on the prevailing circumstances. It is also quite common to use a combination of the above techniques.

OH & S Requirements

As an ISO45001:2018 certified commercial cleaning company, Brilliant Office Cleaning has implemented an effective occupational health and safety system to manage all commercial cleaning work.

However, for a number of reasons, window cleaning requires more attention than general commercial cleaning. There are major risks associated with cleaning high windows, which require management with strategies such as:

  • Appropriate training for the window cleaners
  • Following safe risk management principals
  • Understanding and complying with relevant OH&S regulatory requirements
  • Necessary council permits, which are needed to conduct window cleaning in public places.

Cleaning high windows poses a risk not only for cleaners, but also client employees and the general public. As such, risk management plays an important role in the provision of a safe and effective widow cleaning service.

Risk management is important, not only for cleaning high windows, but all types of window cleaning. Some of these risks have potentially serious outcomes, and risk mitigation is crucial.

Safe handling of window cleaning chemicals

Some cleaning chemicals are potentially harmful. For example, phosphorous based chemicals are toxic and can cause serious illness. For this reason, Brilliant Office Cleaning uses only ISO certificated green cleaning chemicals for all widow cleaning. These cleaning chemicals are not harmful.

In addition, we ensure that our cleaners receive appropriate training to provide a professional service, including the safe handling of chemicals and detergents.

Safe equipment handling

The safe handling of equipment is of paramount importance in window cleaning, to avoid potentially serious work-related injuries to our cleaners and third parties. Our cleaners are well-trained to handle all equipment used in the provision of our window cleaning services.
